Nothing Reportedly Denies Plans To Release A Lite Version Of The phone (1)

A rumour has recently popped up online which suggests that Nothing may introduce a more affordable version of its newly-launched handset, the Nothing phone (1). The device is said to feature most of the internal hardware that came with the original, but at the same time lacking certain features in order to achieve a cheaper price tag.

However, all of this may not be true at all. According to a report by PhoneArena, Nothing says that the company has denied any plans to release a Lite variant of the phone (1), thus rendering details such as its specifications and pricing to be false.

Just in case you missed it, a rumour regarding the alleged Nothing phone (1) Lite was first reported by website The Mobile Indian on 1 August. It is said that the handset would retain most of the original specifications, with some slight changes to the battery and memory configuration. What’s even more drastic is that the alleged Lite variant will lack the Glyph lighting system, which is basically one of the phone’s main selling points.

Unchanged is the 6.55-inch OLED display with 1080 x 2400 FHD+ resolution and an adaptive refresh rate of 120Hz, as well as the internal Snapdragon 778G+ chipset, 16MP selfie camera, and the dual 50MP rear cameras. According to the rumour, the Nothing phone (1) Lite would omit the wireless and reverse wireless charging capabilities. It is also said to come with a larger 5,000 mAh battery, but would feature a smaller 6GB RAM capacity. Storage-wise, the supposed variant would feature a memory capacity that starts from 128GB.

Lastly, the publication alleged that the Nothing phone (1) Lite will start at a very attractive price point of INR 24,999 (~RM 1,417). This further suggests that the company aims to debut more than one configuration, which is likely to feature larger RAM and storage capacities. The expected release date of this rumoured variant was not mentioned.

But as we’ve noted earlier, Nothing has reportedly denied that such a variant of its first-ever smartphone is in the works. It’s worth also noting that PhoneArena did not specify whether it had reached out to the company regarding the matter.
