While Apple was the first to omit a charger from new phones, Samsung followed suit with the S21 series after a brief period of mocking its rival. Since then, high-end Samsung phones have shipped with the charging accessory in the box, similarly under the guise of reducing its carbon footprint.
Now it seems there are rumours going around that the South Korean tech giant might just make that same move on its cheaper models. According to SamMobile, mobile retailers in Europe have confirmed that entry-level Samsung phones such as the budget A series will be shipping without a charging brick, and future mid-tier models such as those in the M series might get the same treatment.
Samsung hasn’t confirmed any of this, so we’ll have to wait and see when it announces the pricing and availability of the new Galaxy M33 and M23 phones. The company’s latest flagship, the S22 series, also shipped without a charger in the box but this was already expected.
If the rumours are proven to be true, included chargers might be a thing of the past for all Samsung phones moving forward. In contrast, companies such as OPPO and realme still ship a charger with their phones and have just introduced ridiculously fast charging speeds to boot.
