Motorola Razr 3 May Come With Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 And 120Hz Display

Foldables are quite hot right now and Motorola might be next to ride the momentum with the Motorola Razr 3. An executive at Lenovo, which owns Motorola, already confirmed last month that a third-generation Razr is in development.

Now, more details about the upcoming foldable have reportedly been leaked. According to a source who spoke to XDA, the successor to the Motorola Razr 5G will be powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 flagship chipset and launch with Android 12 installed.

For comparison, the previous Razr used the Snapdragon 765G while the original Razr foldable ran on the Snapdragon 710. The Motorola Razr 3 will reportedly also be equipped with Ultra-Wideband (UWB) technology, which is used for accurate positioning in things like trackers and the ability to unlock cars with your phone.

As for the display, it may feature a Full HD AMOLED panel with a 120Hz refresh rate. Just like its predecessors, the next generation Razr phone will still feature a cover screen although the actual specs for the display were not revealed by XDA’s source.

The upcoming phone may also forego the notch on its main display in exchange for a punch-hole selfie camera or smaller notch. It will reportedly come in three configurations consisting of 6GB, 8GB, or 12GB of RAM and 128GB, 256GB, or 528GB of storage but XDA’s sources did not reveal the exact launch date for the device although it may have the potential to be released as a global model.

Given that the previous Razr phones had mid-tier specs, this could be the first time that Motorola becomes a serious contender in the foldable market. The only two other vertical foldable phones at the moment, Samsung Galaxy Z Flip3 and Huawei P50 Pocket are both powered by the Snapdragon 888, meaning that the Razr 3 may have a slight advantage if the leak is to be believed.
