S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart Of Chernobyl Takes Up 150GB Of Drive Space

We’ve seen bloated video games, especially those with multiple modes. Last year we had Call of Duty: Modern Warfare with its combined file size of over 232GB. But now, it looks like the upcoming S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart of Chernobyl is coming close in terms of being a storage hog.

On its Steam page, S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart of Chernobyl has a storage requirement of 150GB. Which is pretty substantial for a single game. On balance, it’s still not as bad as the aforementioned Call of Duty: Modern Warfare, which demanded 175GB at base when it first came out.

But if you’re among those who choose to play the game on an Xbox Series X or S instead, then the storage space requirement goes up even higher. On the Microsoft Store, S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart of Chernobyl has a storage requirement of 180GB instead. This would be especially egregious on the Xbox Series S, with its smaller capacity 512GB SSD.

Judging from the first game, one can probably expect S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart of Chernobyl to be a fairly lengthy game. Which may explain its hunger for storage space, but it also does set graphical fidelity expectations for the game. It’s now up for pre-order, and officially becomes available on 28 April 2022.
