Selangor has announced the state will be providing 157,000 Sinovac COVID-19 booster shots for free under the SelVax Booster Programme starting from 8 December. According to Menteri Besar Amirudin Shari, the programme is open for Selangor residents aged 18 and above.
Those who are interested can either visit any SelCare clinic, which currently has seven branches listed on its site, or you can register for an appointment on the SELANGKAH app. That being said, the public is advised to make an appointment on the app, available on Apple’s App Store and the Google Play Store, to avoid congestion at the clinics.
To register for the booster on SELANGKAH, open up the app and tap on SelVax (vaccine) under the health section. You then choose Self Booking > Booster Dose and you can book for yourself as well as dependents for the appointment. The Menteri Besar added that all information regarding your booster dose from the SelVax Booster Programme will be conveyed by the clinics involved through MySejahtera.
The Technical Working Group (TWG) for the COVID-19 Immunisation Task Force-Booster (CITF-B) has recommended Pfizer or AstraZeneca as the preferred booster for the recipients of any vaccines while the National COVID-19 Immunisation Programme is only giving free Sinovac booster shots to those allergic to other vaccine brands. Nevertheless, the recommendations from TWG CITF-B did say that Sinovac recipients can still opt for the Sinovac boosters if they intended to.
