Samsung Galaxy Note20 Production Ends This Year; No 2022 Model

Samsung Galaxy Note20

The last time Samsung released a Galaxy Note device was last year, with the Note20. Since then, the writing has been on the wall for the retiring of the series. The South Korean tech giant didn’t reveal a new device for the line this year, when it was nearly tradition for one to be unveiled at an Unpacked event in August, at least until this year. And a new report suggests that the last nail of the coffin is silently being hammered in behind the scenes.

A new report by ETNews states that Samsung has no plans for a Galaxy Note device for 2022. The company is still producing the Galaxy Note20 this year, and has pumped out 3.2 million units for this year. But production of the device as a whole is also slated to end by the time the year comes to a close.

While still not an official confirmation by Samsung itself, this is about as close as it can get regarding the future of the Galaxy Note line. Well, that and the possibility that next year’s Galaxy S22 Ultra will be inheriting the Note’s most defining feature support and housing for the S-Pen.

All things point to the Samsung Galaxy Note series being retired, with the Ultra variants of the Galaxy S series taking over. Though technically, it is a return to form to when the Note was new, being a beefed up version of that year’s S model. It’s just that a separate line is now no longer needed as the S line itself has two of its own beefed up models at launch.
