Malaysia-Singapore Land Travel Will Be Implemented Alongside Air Travel VTL

Johor Singapore Causeway VTL

Johor Mentri Besar Hasni Mohammad has revealed that Malaysia and Singapore will be opening up a Vaccinated Travel Lane (VTL) for land crossing, in tandem with the air travel VTL on 29 November.

However, Mohammad added that the quarantine-free cross-border travel via the Causeway and Second Link would only be allowed for long-term pass holders. Transport Minister Wee Ka Siong said that the two countries are still working out the details for the land VLT and will be announced soon.

Meanwhile, both the Malaysian and Singaporean governments have revealed the specific conditions for the air travel VTL between KLIA and Changi Airport. There will be six daily designated flights, which will require a Vaccinated Travel Pass (VTP). Registration for the VTP will open on 22 November and only fully vaccinated applicants will be accepted.

In lieu of quarantining, visitors using the travel pass are required to take two COVID-19 tests. They must take an RT-PCR test within two days before departure, although Singapore also allows professionally-administered Antigen Rapid Tests. Next, they have to take another PCR test at the airport upon arrival.

It should be noted that those making day trips can use their negative on-arrival test as their pre-departure test for the return flight. Children aged two and below won’t be required to do testing, while children under 12 won’t need proof of vaccination as long as they’re accompanied by a VTL-approved traveller.
