Far Cry May Get The Assassin’s Creed Infinity Live Service Treatment

Far Cry 3

Ubisoft is bleeding personnel, and it dishing out pay raises like candy to retain staff. One recent high profile departure is Dan Hay, who is a key senior producer for the Far Cry series. But probably more eye-popping than that is the nature of the game he was working on, up until his departure.

GamesBeat reports that Ubisoft has plans to turn the next Far Cry game into a live service type of title. This would make the next entry in the series very in line with the model that the Assassin’s Creed series is heading to with Infinity. Hay was overseeing this project up until the announcement of his departure, after 10 years with the publisher.

With Far Cry 6 having been released relatively recently, we won’t be hearing about this live service sequel anytime soon. But judging from the details we had from Assassin’s Creed Infinity, it doesn’t exactly paint a pretty picture.

Of course, with social media being what it is, there’s the usual speculation that Hay left because he disagreed with the direction the series is heading towards. Being with the series since Far Cry 3, it’s an understandable perspective to have. But it’s something that will likely never be confirmed by Hay himself or Ubisoft.
