Huawei nova 9 To Debut In Malaysia Soon; Alongside MateBook 14s and Watch GT 3 Series

Huawei recently revealed that nova 9, MateBook 14s, and Watch GT 3 Series will be released in Malaysia soon. All three devices are the main star of the upcoming Huawei APAC Autumn Product Launch event that has been scheduled to take place on 28 October.

If you are feeling déjà vu after looking at nova 9, that is likely because the phone’s design is identical to the HONOR 50 which has just been launched in Malaysia. In fact, they shared plenty of specs together including a 6.57-inch Full HD+ 120Hz OLED display with curved edges, Qualcomm Snapdragon 778G, up to 8GB RAM & 256GB internal storage, 32MP selfie camera, 4300mAh battery, and 66W charger.

Of course, there are some major differences between them such as their main camera whereby nova 9 carries a 50MP sensor while HONOR 50 features a 108MP sensor instead. Not to forget, nova 9 is limited to 4G and does not support Google Mobile Services (GMS) unlike HONOR 50 that is 5G-enabled and has no problem accessing GMS.

On another hand, the MateBook 14s may not be the first laptop from the brand that is powered by the 11th Gen Intel Core chip as Huawei has launched a few such laptops in Malaysia earlier this year. However, the upcoming model is the first Intel Evo-certified release from the brand.

Huawei has retained the general design language of its MateBook series for the new model and continue to utilise aluminium-alloy as the construction material on MateBook 14s. That being said, the brand has finally switched to a more traditional webcam which is located on the MateBook 14s screen’s top bezel instead of the pop-up camera that is usually located on MateBook’s keyboard.

Speaking about its keyboard, Huawei said that the MateBook 14s offers 1.5mm key travel alongside a soft-landing design and three backlight levels. The laptop also comes standard with a 14.2-inch 90Hz LTPS touch display that has a native resolution of 2520 x 1680 and a maximum brightness level of 400 nits.

Owners can choose to unlock the new laptop through its Face Unlock feature or the fingerprint sensor that has been integrated with its power button. The MateBook 14s has also been equipped with a 60Whr battery and is accompanied by a 90W USB-C charger right inside the box.

Available in two case sizes, the Huawei Watch GT 3 46mm is equipped with a 1.43-inch screen while 42mm version has a smaller 1.32-inch screen although both still feature an AMOLED panel and stainless steel body. They also have different battery life ratings with the 46mm model being able to last up to 14 days, as compared to the 42mm variants which maxed out at 7 days.

Regardless of the watch size, both flavours feature a new heart rate sensor module that carries eight photodiodes, two light sources, and a curved glass lens. The new module works together with an AI algorithm to deliver more accurate reading than previous Watch GT models even during high-intensity workouts.

Watch GT 3 Series also comes with a dual-band global navigation satellite system that supports GPS, Beidou, GLONASS, Galileo, and QZSS. Also designed to meet the 5ATM water-resistant standard, the smartwatch covers more than 100 sports modes and provides blood oxygen saturation (SpO2) monitoring around the clock together with heart rate, sleep routine, stress, and menstrual cycle.

Meanwhile, Huawei has revealed that the MateBook 14s will be made available for pre-order in Malaysia on 28 October itself. However, the brand didn’t provide similar information for the two other products.

We expect more details regarding all three new Huawei devices including availability and pricing to be announced during the launch event on 28 October. So, stay tuned for further updates coming your way in a few days’ time.
