Dragon Age 4 Reportedly Being Developed For Next-Gen Consoles, PC Only

Dragon Age 4 teaser

EA and Bioware’s long-awaited sequel to 2014’s Dragon Age: Inquisition, Dragon Age 4, was officially announced back in January of this year but with the exception of its setting, details about the game are still far and few. Now, new information about the game has come up to the surface, with one detail seemingly pertaining to its development on certain platforms or lack thereof.

The detail in question comes by way of a LinkedIn job description belonging to Daniel Nordlander, a man who happens to be the former lead player designer for Dragon Age 4. For the record, Nordlander previously worked as the lead combat designer on Bioware’s doomed multiplayer title, Anthem. Getting back on point, Nordlander’s most recent job scope states that he was tasked with overseeing the development of the game’s core player mechanics, but only for the Sony PlayStation 5 (PS5), Xbox Series X and Series S, as well as the PC.

Missing from this list is, of course, development for the game on the PS4 and Xbox One, leading us to believe that the game is expected to be exclusive to the next-generation consoles. Having said that, it is important to remember that neither EA nor Bioware has released any new information about the fourth instalment of the Dragon Age franchise since the start of this year, so everything written here should be taken with a liberal sprinkling of salt.

Of course, if the speculation is to be taken as gospel, one could scarcely blame the studio for only focusing on making Dragon Age 4 exclusive to next-generation consoles; As it stands, both the PS4 and Xbox One are already reaching the end of their respective life cycles and doing so also reduces the workload from having to develop the game on so many fronts.
