iPad mini 6 Finally Gets The Pro Redesign; Runs A15 Bionic Chipset

Apple iPad mini 6

Apple has finally unveiled the much rumoured iPad mini 6 during its scheduled stream. And the best news about this new small tablet is that it is finally getting the iPad Pro-esque redesign, the way the iPad Air 4 did.

The redesign also means that it will support the second generation Apple Pencil, the way the iPad Pro models do. Another plus that comes with the redesign is the use of USB-C for its charging port. Touch ID has also been moved to the power button. While it’s not as intuitive as on a phone, it’s still one of the best places to put a fingerprint sensor.

It is also getting a lot of features that we first saw announced during the iPad Pro M1 announcement a few months ago. These include the Center Stage tech that helps put you into the middle of your camera feed. And this is done with the familiar 12MP camera.

On the inside, the iPad mini 6 comes with Apple’s A15 Bionic chipset, which the company says is 40% better than before. Of course, this will also come with the new iPadOS 15. This means all the features the tablet OS has to offer, like the ability to have widgets on the home screen, and app grouping.

Also new with the iPad mini 6 is 5G connectivity, which shouldn’t be surprising anymore. For storage, it has the 64GB and 256GB options. Apple says that the WiFi only model starts from US$499 (~RM2077), while the 5G option starts from US$649 (~RM2701). We’ll let you know when we get local pricing details.
